Yeehaw, my friend Bob is running for City Council!
Even though I setup this blog a couple months ago, this is the first time I've been excited enough to actually commit to blogging it.
I'm excited because my friend Bob Schreiber is running for Memphis City Council District 5.
I've known Bob for almost 10 years and worked with him on numerous issues in Memphis involving green urban planning and parks and green space protection. This man has vision!
Y'know that little plastic bin you have for your all your recyclables to get picked up at the curbside? Bob's responsible for it being there!
Wouldn't you love to be able to ride your bike from Midtown to Shelby Farms without being run over by a car? Bob's been working to make it happen for years! (See http://www.greatermemphisgreenline.org/)
Want to see the City of Memphis get serious about creating a more family friendly, environmentally sound, truly livable community with great parks and amenities and forward thinking planning? That's what Bob's about!
Would you like to see the City Council start acting in the public interest like their supposed to? Bob will get it done!
Are you interested in seeing our city government really look hard at our problems and research, adapt and apply the best and tested solutions? Bob will do it!
Whether it be crime, neighborhood revitalization, sustainable (re)development, improved services, government efficiency or mass transportation, Bob is committed to finding the answers and implementing the solution.
I just love it when real, down to earth, grassroots community activists run for public office--it's such a breath of fresh air compared to the hot air coming from the political party insiders.
I hope you'll join me in joining Bob in his campaign for City Council.
